re©reate * A cross-over project between ART / TASTE / NATURE & HISTORY
situated on the former mine site of Eisden.

The project focuses on the central shafttowers: the old tower, next to the reconstruction and next to the natural developments. Despite their iconic character and their central location, these 2 shafttowers (original + reconstruction) are now part of a sort of wasteland between new developments. This desolate post-industrial landscape, with "memories" and pioneer nature, contrasts strongly with the new environment. This status can be neglected, however, be questioned. Isn’t it more meaningful to give them a new meaning or function in order to create an interesting focal point and to
create new relationships where old relationships no longer exist? 
The question is which solution can be the most  justified ( social, urban, cultural-historical and ecological) ? These questions are the reason for the project re©reate *.

The project starts from the installation "MUTATION" in the new shafttower which not only draws attention to this place, but also forms a new shelter & meeting place to share ideas & more ...
The contradictions between PRESENT / PAST & CULTURE / NATURE are highlighted here and make the visitor think about the future.
After these moments of reflection, the visitor can actively contribute to the artistic trail and participate in the "evolutionary art WONDERING WORDS".
This land-art installation evolves in time and space & forms a red wire in the landscape which leads you to the top of the terril.
During this walk, the visitor can discover the newly created habitats and finally reach the top to enjoy his newly acquired in-sight .

re©reate * Een grensoverschrijdend project tussen KUNST / SMAAK / NATUUR  &  GESCHIEDENIS
dat zich situeert op het voormalig mijnterrein van Eisden.

Het project focust zich op de centraal gelegen schachtbokken: de oude schachtbok, de aanpalende reconstructie en de aangrenzende natuurontwikkelingen.   Ondanks het beeldbepalend karakter en hun centrale ligging maken de 2 schachtbokken (originele + reconstructie) momenteel deel uit van een soort wasteland tussen nieuwe ontwikkelingen. Dit verlaten post-industrieel landschap, met “herinneringen” en pionier-natuurontwikkeling, contrasteert sterk met de omgeving. 
Deze verwaarloosde status kan echter in vraag gesteld worden.  Is het niet zinvoller ze door een nieuwe invulling of functie om te vormen tot een boeiend knooppunt en nieuwe relaties te creëren waar oude relaties weggevallen zijn?  De vraag is echter op welke wijze dit maatschappelijk,  stedenbouwkundig,  cultuurhistorisch en ecologisch het meest verantwoord is? Deze vragen vormen de aanleiding tot het project  re©reate *.
 
Het project vertrekt vanaf de installatie “MUTATION” in de nieuwe schachtbok die niet alleen de aandacht op de plek vestigt, maar ook een nieuwe ontmoetingsplaats (met gezellig zomerterras) vormt. De tegenstellingen tussen HEDEN / VERLEDEN & CULTUUR / NATUUR worden hier belicht en doen de bezoeker nadenken over 
de toekomst. Na deze momenten van reflectie kan de bezoeker actief een bijdrage leveren aan het artistieke parcours door deel te nemen aan de "evolutionary art  WONDERING WORDS”. Een “rode draad” met “WONDERING WORDS” (positieve boodschappen voor de toekomst op vlagjes gedragen door de wind) leidt je naar de top van de terril en evolueert in tijd en ruimte. Tijdens deze wandeling kan de bezoeker de nieuw ontstane biotopen ontdekken om uiteindelijk de top van de terril te bereiken en te genieten van zijn nieuw verworven in-zicht.
